GIANT LEAP FOR CAMEROON’S MARITIME EDUCATION & TRAINING SECTOR

Cameroon’s maritime education, training, and certification base has received an unprecedented booster. On 18 August 2023, the Minister of Higher Education signed an order authorizing the University of Ebolowa to launch its Advanced School of Maritime and Ocean Science and Technology (NAMOST) training in the 2023/2024 academic year.



An initial cohort of 300 students will be recruited following a competitive entrance examination for holders of GCE A Level or its equivalent holding in Yaounde, Ebolowa Douala, and Kribi examination centers on 6 October 2023.


Initially, students will opt into either the Maritime & Oceanic Sciences and Technology or the Sciences of Maritime & Port Management Departments.


Informed sources, however, hold that the NAMOST project harbors a plan to include a maritime trade training center, dispensing STCW95 as amended short courses component. See full details in the attached PDF documents below (English + French):
