NGA Marine Services Signs Douala Port Authority RDD/PAD Witnessed Contract

Just like 14 August 1994, which remains engraved in our history as the first day we loaded a full crew onto the MV Mike Tide for its drydocking trip to Abidjan. 2026 run-up to 14 August followed a similar sequence. Beginning with the 12 August bipartisan contract review between RDD/PAD and NGA Marine Services LTD.

While our delegation was headed by Barrister Kumfa K. Jude, the RDD/PAD delegation was headed by Barrister Ako William Achu. Initially thought to be a quick fix.

The day-long scrutiny of the 20-page contract proposal underscored the seriousness of purpose and public character of PAD’s mission. At the end of that day, every word, punctuation mark, or phrase stood in its place, meant to produce its full effect.

Despite agreement on the terms and conditions by both parties, perceptible tensions remained high in both camps, while the drafts circulated for final approval and signature by the respective Managing Directors. Finally, at 10 a.m., Mr. Gregory Alem, F.I.C.S., assisted by the Commercial/Technical Director, Mrs. Forqwan, A. T. Quinta, F.I.C.S., signed the agreement on behalf of NGA Marine Services. Resonating in industry circles as ‘great news to hear on the Port contract,’ concluded Captain Lance Sheperd, retired West Africa Operations Manager for Tidewater Marine Inc.
